Fayose In Fresh Trouble As PDP Chieftains Turn On Him, Accuse Him Of Anti-party Activities

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has a new murky water wriggle free from after he was accused of indulging in anti-party activities by Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain.

A group which described itself as Concerned Peoples Democratic Party Stakeholders in Ekiti State made the allegation against the former and chairman PDP Governors’ Forum.

The group frowned that the national leadership of the PDP is yet to sanction Fayose for the alleged offence, which it accused the former governor of committing during the 2019 general elections.

At the end of its meeting in Ifaki Ekiti, which had in attendance, Dr. Jimi Oke, with former acting governor, Tunji Odeyemi, and Kehinde Odebunmi, among others on Thursday, the stakeholders said “Fayose campaigned against the PDP and its candidates in the last elections and has not been checked or sanctioned by the National Working Committee.”

In a communiqué signed by delegates across the 16 local government areas of the state at the meeting, the group said it was certain that “PDP is the party to beat in Ekiti State but has to be well restructured and allow discipline to reign supreme.”

They described imposition as the bane of the party in Ekiti, saying it is “inimical to the progress of the party. That this has bred indiscipline among members and low morale among the disciplined members.”

Meanwhile, the media aide to Fayose, Lere Olayinka, who spoke on the position of the supposed stakeholders, said “I don’t know of any PDP meeting. A gathering having the House of Assembly members who were responsible for the removal of duly elected council chairmen, vice chairman and councilors should not be accorded any recognition.

“To me, that is not a gathering of PDP members.”
